Porterville’s Washington Monument Ceremony marked another milestone for heritage celebrations

The Washington Monument dedication ceremony marked another significant milestone in the City’s ongoing heritage celebrations. The ceremony also included a dedication of a Revolutionary War Patriot Marker by the daughters of the American Revolution.
The City also extends its appreciation to the businesses, organizations, and community members who helped make the monument and dedication ceremony possible.  Special thanks to Greg Bartlett Construction, BC Materials, Bob Ruffa Electric, Kaylor Landscape, Anderson Fence Co., CTL, Vollmer Excavation and Evan’s Crane for their generous donations and contributions to the project and celebration. Their support helped make this addition to Veterans Park possible and reflects the community’s continued commitment to preserving and celebrating local history.
As part of the ceremony, attendees also received special commemorative challenge coins created for the occasion. The coins provide a lasting keepsake of the monument unveiling and Porterville’s historic 2026 celebrations.
The City held its annual Pioneer Days fundraiser and will also recognize Veterans Day by holding its annual Veterans Day Run and parade November 11th. These upcoming events will continue the City’s efforts to bring Porterville’s history to life and provide opportunities for the community to celebrate its past, present, and future.
Throughout 2026, the Porterville 100 and America 250 celebrations have included projects, events, and community partnerships designed to highlight the history that helped shape Porterville and its connection to the broader story of America. From the George Washington Monument and Battleship Playground to Pioneer Days, Veterans Day, and other heritage events, the City continues to build on the momentum created throughout this milestone year.
The City of Porterville thanks the community, sponsors, volunteers, organizations, and everyone who has helped make the 2026 celebrations possible and looks forward to continuing the celebration through the end of the year.
