Candidates for Visalia City Council, Visalia Unified School District to answer questions on Thursday, October 8

Voters in the elections for Visalia City Council and Visalia Unified School District board will have the opportunity to meet and ask questions of the candidates at the Tulare County League of Voters Forum on Thursday, October 8.

Forums for both races will take place back-to-back at the Tulare County Office of Education, 6200 S. Mooney Blvd., beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The forum for Visalia Unified School District Board of Trustees will start at 5:30 p.m. and include candidates in Areas 1 and 4.

Area 1 incumbent, Walta Gamoian, is being challenged by Stacy Boyce.

Area 4 incumbent, Todd Oto, is being challenged by Efrain Becerra.

The forum for Visalia City Council will start at 7 p.m.  Incumbent for District 5, Steve Nelsen, is being challenged by Jose Sosa Wences, Justin Stie, and Esther Perez. Perez serves on the Visalia Cemetery Board and regretfully cannot attend the forum because she will be at a cemetery conference in San Francisco that evening.

Candidates will be responding to questions from the forum’s sponsors and from the audience. The forum will be live streamed on Valley Voice’s Facebook and viewers can message their questions on the Valley Voice’s livestream.
