Volunteers and community members support local kids with school supply donations
Walmart and The Salvation Army are joining forces to provide new school supplies to local children in need during the “Stuff the Bus” campaign event at Walmart locations in Visalia and Tulare on Saturday, August 3, 2019.
The “Stuff the Bus” campaign event in the south Valley is one of nearly 3,000 similar events taking place at Walmart stores, nationwide. In-store shoppers will receive lists of supplies needed; all they have to do to participate is purchase and drop off the requested items at The Salvation Army collection bins at the front of each store.
“Many families struggle with everyday needs, including equipping their children with the means to study,” said Lieutenants Cynthia & Yonathan Escobar, The Salvation Army Tulare-Visalia. “By donating school supplies for a child in need, you ease the burden parents experience at the start of the school year and set the right tone for these students in the classroom. It’s the confidence boost they need for high attainment.”
For those unable to visit the store on August 3, searchable online registries include all the items needed at www.tinyurl.com/TSAVisalia and www.tinyurl.com/TSATulare. Each item requires just one click to purchase.
Walmart and The Salvation Army have collaborated for more than 30 years to meet local community needs. Supporters like Walmart help The Salvation Army serve more than 23 million Americans, annually, on their journeys toward self-sufficiency through a range of social services.
All donations to the “Stuff the Bus” campaign remain local. With your help, The Salvation Army Tulare-Visalia can provide families and their children with back-to-school support in Visalia, Dinuba, Farmersville, Goshen, Ivanhoe, Woodville and Tulare. Thank you.
