Peña Planetarium offers Holiday double-feature December 8

The Sam B. Peña Planetarium, operated by the Tulare County Office of Education, will offer a special Holiday double-feature on Friday evening, December 8, at 6 and 7pm.

The presentation begins with Mystery of the Christmas Star in the Peña Planetarium. This modern reference to the traditional Christmas story investigates possible dates for the birth of Christ and looks at recorded sightings of significant astronomical events during this time in history.

Following the planetarium show, the audience will be invited to the History Theater for Christmas Traditions Around the World. Christmas customs and winter season traditions from around the world are examined in this special holiday presentation. Audience members will learn that, although people in different countries do not celebrate this festive occasion in the same way, it is always a very special time of the year for people all around the world.

The Peña Planetarium is located at 11535 Avenue 264 in Visalia, on the southwest corner of Mooney Boulevard and Avenue 264. Tickets are available at the Planetarium office only after 5:00 p.m. on the day of the shows. Tickets are $4 for adults and $3 for children 11 and under. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No late seating is offered once the planetarium doors close. For information, call (559) 737-6334.
