Sad to see this beautiful tree go. I think they should hire someone to make tables and benches with the wood and keep it in the same location for people to enjoy a lunch break there. Of course the tables and benches would need to be non movable.

This tree has lasted longer than anyone could have ever predicted. Sad to lose it. I agree with Mr Rose...it wuld be great to see an artifact made of the wood. However, I think a carving should remain in the same location as the tree.

I love our giant trees and I think we should do everything possible to keep them safe. If the tree is in fact dead then it is necessary that it be cut down. I would like to see if a wood working artist would like to make something with the wood from the tree and then donate it to the Mooney Grove Park. Then he or she can keep the rest of the historical wood for himself as a thank you for making the artifact for the park.
