March 5: For the Love of Art

Art show, dinner and silent auction featuring the work of Visalia Unified high school artists. Proceeds from the items auctioned will be divided equally between the artist and the Visalia Ed Foundation to be used for grants, scholarships and other projects that will benefit VUSD students. Tickets can be purchased online for $20 + $1.45 ticket fee or at the Visalia Unified School District Office at 5000 W. Cypress for $20.

March 7: College of the Sequoias Horticulture Club – Learn about fruit trees

The Horticulture Club is having a free workshop on how to graft your own backyard dormant trees at the Tulare COS campus, Building B, 4999 E. Bardsley Ave., Tulare. Late winter is the best time to plant or graft apple, pear, apricot, peach, plum, nectarine, cherry and persimmon trees.  Master grafters from COS and the California Rare Fruit Growers will help you graft your very own young tree rootstock, $5 each subject to availability. Proceeds go the COS Horticulture Club. March 13 – 15: “Bubble Boy” in Lindsay

Presented by Lindsay High School, this musical is about a boy born without immunities who must live in a plastic bubble room. He builds a bubble suit to pursue the girl he loves. March 14: St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Join us for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in downtown Visalia, Saturday at 10 am. It is still time for fun and interesting participants to the parade. Entry fee is $25 before March 9th and accepting late entries also with entry fee at $35. March 14: Irish Fest

March 14: Tulare Kings Audubon Society March Field trip

The Big Sycamore Trail, in the riparian area below Lake Success Dam, often holds many surprises. Grapevine thickets, sycamore, eucalyptus, tobacco tree, elderberry, pond habitat, dam outflow stream, dry field and power lines provide a wide variety of habitats. Meet at the Army Corps parking lot below Success Dam at the Big Sycamore sign at 7 AM. Bring binoculars, bird book, layered clothing for the weather, water and snacks. Trail is about 1 mile and easy. Soroptimist International of Visalia announces their annual Spring Fling fundraiser to be held from 10:00am-2:30pm at the Wyndham Hotel, 9000 W. Airport Drive. Covers the negative impact of vaping on our teens held at the Tulare Community Auditorium which is located on the Tulare Union High School Campus, 5:30 p.m. Following the presentation, there will be various companies that can answer questions and provide valuable resources.

March 20:  Gary Woods – “Birds of Southeast Arizona”

Gary Woods of Fresno Audubon will be presenting his photography from the past 12 years from Southeast Arizona at 7:00pm St Paul’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall 120 N. Hall St, Visalia . Gary is an excellent photographer and birder. Although Southeast Arizona is barely known outside the world of birders, it is rich in biodiversity with many species found nowhere else in the US. Besides photos, he will provid many resources about where to go and how to get started, including birding festivals. The church’s parking lot from the 1400 block of West Center St. is the closest to the Parish Hall. No host dinner at Marie Callender’s (Hwy 198 and Mooney Blvd) at 5:15 where you can usually meet the speaker.

March 25: “Noon” Kiwanis Club of Tulare presents 60th “Farmer of the Year”

Kiwanis Club presents Farmer of the Year award to Bud and Lance Mouw, farmer and dairy producers from Tulare.  The luncheon at 12:00 pm at the Heritage Complex in Tulare. March 26: Impact Leadership Conference – The Evolution Begins

March 27: Tulare County Farm Bureau’s annual Education and Scholarship Gala

Tickets are selling quick for Tulare County Farm Bureau’s 33rd annual fundraising gala to support the Education and Scholarship trust at the Visalia Convention Center.  Reserve your tickets before March 13. This year’s raffles are also sure to impress!  Gator TS UTV from Lawrence Tractor and a beautiful Diamond pendant from Brown’s Custom Jewelry. March 28: Wilma McDaniel Literary Landmark Celebration

Wilma McDaniel, Tulare’s Poet Laureate, will be posthumously designated a California Literary Landmark at the Tulare Historical Museum. Wilma’s designation will mark only the sixth Literary Landmark in the state of California, the first for Tulare County, and the first female to be given this distinction. A free biscuits & gravy and cornbread & beans brunch will be available from 11am-1pm, The Literary Landmark Celebration program begins at 1:00pm

March 28: Visalia Home Garden Tour

The Sequoia Garden Club of Visalia will host its bi-annual home garden tour from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The theme for this year’s tour is “Rethinking Your Garden.”  The public can tour five homes that are beautifully designed with water conservation in mind.  Visitors will have access to a list of plants used in the landscapes and information about integrated pest management best practices. Tulare County Master Gardeners will be available at each site to answer questions. Plants will be for sale at a sixth venue. April 3: The 15th Annual Birdhouse Auction

Each year Habitat for Humanity of Tulare/Kings Counties holds its signature event, The Birdhouse Auction, at the Wyndham Hotel,  9000 W Airport Dr. Visalia, Doors open at 6pm. This year we are going “down the rabbit hole” with a fun ALICE IN WONDERLAND theme. April 4: Overland Mail Coaches

Saturday April 4th from 10 to 4 at the Springville Historical Museum. 12 pm Cowboy Trail Lunch available for $5.00. On display will be locally owned wagons, the styles of which were used along the Butterfield Overland Mail Route. The early mud wagon from the Goshen Mounted Police will be with us as well as a mud wagon pulled by matching Haflinger fillies. April 4: 88th Annual Lindsay Orange Blossom Festival

The real fun is blooming at the Lindsay Orange Blossom Parade and Festival, Saturday, April 4th at Lindsay Park! The parade starts at 10am, and the festival goes from 11am to 5pm.
