Just another example of how those without the ability are treated as second class citizens. We need to understand that no government entity gives a damn about those they supposedly serve. Good luck getting your bus stops back.

As a past school bus driver for VUSD, we used to drive into Oak Ranch to pickup/drop-off students.
We never drop-off nor pickup students where the video was taken at. It was always on the other side. ( in the opening of Oak Ranch )
The superintendent is responsible for bus stops with CHP over seeing the stops for safety.

This is totally unacceptable! The “excuses” given by the school district are weak. The busses have provided services for this area for 50 years, and suddenly it is no longer feasible for them to continue these routes? I would not want my children/grandchildren crossing those streets either!
A school district can’t say their first concern is student safety, when obviously it isn’t in this case. I can’t even imagine the nightmare this will be in the fog and inclement weather!
This parent group should also be allowed a meeting with the Superintendent AND the Transportation Director.
If the Parent Group presents their concerns to the Board, and nothing is done to remedy this situation, such as grandfathering in this bus route, than I would seek legal help. The city might also be able to help with safety/accident reports for those areas of concern.
Good luck. Keep fighting for the safety of your kids and grandkids!

I feel bad for this community! I just feel that is time /money saving technique for the district. My grandsons are in the Golden West district which I believe the boundary changed with expanded construction to the south in Visalia. They are south of Tulare Ave. Straight to the west is Whitney and Divisadero. How does that make sense whenno busses offered what so ever. Not a very easy way to / walk or ride a bike for the kids especially with construction. I do know that buses are used to transport kids that are living in new subdivisions are meeting at Annie R. Mitchell to be bussed to Mineral King school unless something has changed from when I asked a rep in a model home. They don’t just tell clients that in my opinion.

There is more that needs to be discovered about VUSD‘s decision. Why would they stop a bus stop that they have ran for 50 years something doesn’t sound right there’s more that needs to be found out a little digging needs to be done, Oak Ranch bus stops need to be grandfathered in to their routes because they have committed to them for 50 years.
