In reply to <a href="https://www.ourvalleyvoice.com/2025/09/04/letter-biggest-power-grab-yet/#comment-156342">Jim Reeves</a>.

Texas is just responding to the gerrymandering that blue states have been doing for years. This is one reason California Democrats have enjoyed a super majority for years so Texas isn't doing something that Democrats haven't done for years. This is the reason voters wanted a non partisan commission to draw the lines in the first place. The only reason that Newsom gets his way all of the time is because Democrats outnumber Republicans 2 to 1. No wonder California has is circling the drain.

Perhaps Mr. Magsig can explain how a vote of the people to make a temporary change to the state’s constitution “blatantly disregards the will of the voters”. Seems to me like it will be the will of the voters if it passes. And if it’s not, and it doesn’t pass, then no change occurs.
On top of all of that, all Magsig and Republicans have to do to stop it is get Texas to rescind their reapportionment mid-cycle. If Texas (and some other GOP-controlled states) don’t try to break the rules mid-game, then California won’t have to respond. Easy-peasy.
