I have packed out with the Shew’s a few times and seen how much they do to help keep the trails clear for everyone else. This would take away someone who really cares for the forest and does something about it. Please don’t take away this great form of recreation from the public.

Although I’m disabled now in my younger years I enjoyed riding trails and learning from knowledgeable experience people. It helped me utilize the area responsibly. The pack station helps fill this need. Without it and its staff how will people learn how to access safely. If Cal Fire needs additional facilities, which they orobably do, then we need to either bring in mobile units or build what fits their needs. We should not strip one facility and thus rape is ability and destroy it’s function creating even more risks and create unknowledable users to harm the area. It’s like removing store clerks, stock people and cashiers to add more security guards and still expect the store to operate normal. There is an impact…an unacceptable impact.

These pack stations provide a valuable resource for this area. In the past they have provided resources for fire crews. They do drop shipments of supplies for hikers. They also donate time for trail maintenance. Cal fire works for us. Maybe they should be closed also for non compliance.

Please rectify this situation.. the pack station is a long standing and much loved part of the community offering the opportunity for many to experience the joy of being in the mountains and experiencing Mother Nature at her best. Please don’t take this away from our community
