The Diverging Diamond intersection would have been perfect for this intersection. The solution they chose is just going to make it worse.

this project is a complete waste of taxpayer funds.

American lung association 2022 lists Visalia as 5 worst air in the United States and in 2023 we moved to no 2. 20,000 acres of farmland in Tulare co are being forced to go fallow including my 40 acres of now dead trees. we are becoming a dust bowl. all the political driven agencies that are mandated to protect us are failing based on this info. growth such as this must stop or our grandkids will die. time for citizens to take control of this out control growth and say no. do something or hold your breath if you choose and never go outside. your choice

I think it's an okay idea, just limited in vision. I would prefer to see a class IV bike lane on Lovers Lane and Houston. I also want them to leave the trees in the center of the median and not take them out unless they're putting light rail as an upgrade.

[…] Caltrans finally untangling traffic knot at 198 & Lovers Lane (Valley Voice). Preliminary work by Caltrans to reroute traffic exiting Highway 198 at Lovers Lane (State Route 216) has begun, reports Visalia City Hall. Preparations will continue through the winter months. Then in March, the project – which includes permanently blocking a portion of Mineral King east of Lovers Lane – goes into high gear. This is just an operational improvement. Caltrans plans to build a completely new interchange just east of Lovers Lane at Road 148 that won’t be done until 2035 at the earliest. […]

thank you California. there are hundreds of projects the state can do especially in more populated areas. Nobody likes change. when they built 198 in the 1960's I'm sure people complained. the #1 goal should be to save lives. While the people might be inconvenienced were they happy with the traffic on lovers land and Mineral King where i'm sure there were a lot of wrecks? Visalia is almost 200,000 people. its not Mayberry anymore!

Wouldn't it make more since to do the road 148 overpass first?  Officials have indicated that the changes at Lovers Lane and Mineral King is not going to fix the problem. Not to mention the traffic flow during the construction with the 148 overpass would be much better.  Who knows the changes at Lovers Lane and Mineral King may not be necessary.  Appears to me that the planners concentrated on the wrong project first and now are trying to come up with some kind of relief knowing it is not going to work;

MCAuliff is already a speedway lacking traffic lights. Continuously drivers plow through the freeway fence at Mineral King and MCAuliff. At a minimum a traffic light is needed there. Dangerous crossing points at Center Ave and also Mill Creek. The rerouting of this traffic pattern through the neighborhoods is insane. Lovers lane and Mill Creek is already riddled with accidents as drivers run the lights. Far too many children in these neighborhoods to have this happening. What a mess this will be. Visalia leaders should spend some time in these areas during commute time for work and school and high school lunch times to experience what their constituents are voicing.

I have lived in the same house east of McAuliff for 43 years. There are no stop signs from Mineral King to Houston Ave. traffic control,(speeding) is unheard of. Drivers attempting to get to schools and or work on time from Lovers Lane or McAulliff to Houston Ave will need anger management .... PS I agree with Fabian

It’s still an ugly design, why are you keeping the EB curv entrance. Why not move it to the east side of Lovers Lane, make the entrance like Mooney?? This will create more room to expand the exit lanes and create more storage for cars existing the freeway.

Wouldn't it be easier and cheap to just remove those wb exit and entrace?? And just leave mineral king alone? There is another exit and entrance before mineral king that is real close by for people to use. You are just wasting money doing it like that we don't need that exit entrance on mineral king it can be deleted
