This is very needed, and I like the idea that includes the roundabouts, and the first theme that keeps the cars on the freeway from being in the view of pedestrians crossing the bridge. I only wish that this would be completed sooner.

Phil’s post has a good idea for a short term fix.
Short term or even permanent fix: round -a-bouts at north side of 198 Lover lane Bridge (Mineral King / Lovers Lane and another at Nobel and Lovers Lane incorporating the Lovers Lane E bound exit.
Eliminate THREE stop lights and all those fumes from idling vehicles waiting at stop lights.
Some type of bridging to accommodate pedestrian travel.
Look at the Farmersville/198 on and off ramp round-a-bout

This seems like a simple fix that they are spending a lot of time and money on mostly for beautification. The South side of 198 at this intersection is the issue. Move the onramp/off ramp down the road a ways and eliminate the extra stop light. widen Mineral king and Noble to 4 lanes. almost identical to the Ben Maddox intersection. The onramps/offramps at Ben Maddox have almost no effect on Ben Maddox itself.

Project is long overdue. I wish they would have made the frontage roads to be used as one-ways going east/west, with “turn-around” or “U-Turns, in designated areas. I think it would make safer for drivers. I’ve seen this freeway designed like this in San Antonio, Dallas and Houston to name a few and driven on them too. Was way better.

Glad to hear there are plans for the future of Lovers Lane and the 198 interchange BUT please fix the Lovers Lane roadbed now! We can’t wait 10 years before that is done. The road at Noble and at the entrance and exist of the 198 have deteriorated to a level that is just not reasonable for the citizens of Visalia to endure!

This is a waste of resources and tax payers money. It is a joke to all, and money would be better allocated elsewhere. Do better 10 years of taxpayer money is a joke.

Happy to hear our government leaders are getting their collective heads together to solve this long standing traffic flow problem.
My initial feedback would be to see the plans for the round- about solution.
We hope if the flim- flam high speed rail project gets stopped, some of that funding could be used to to create a truly beautiful, free flowing solution.
TEN years is WAY too long a time frame. Let’s get it complete in 4 years.
