My understanding is that the widow Clemmie Gill was a quaker and it was she who donated the 35 acres of land to TCOE that SCICON sits on. It was then that SCICON was born when the land was used as an outdoor school site, named I believe after Clemmie Gill. I don't know if Clemmie attended "Friend" meetings in Visalia or in Springville or in Porterville, but I do know that without this wonderful generous Quaker "woman" there would be no SCICON that my children and grandchildren came to know and love.
