I think that Humans really ought to get over the hype and hyperbole created to scare them into submission.
A healthy biosphere requires a vast biodiversity.
Wolves are top predators, and that is what upsets the folks that believe the hype.
I hope Humans can evolve enough to realize they are Part of the ecology of the land, Not Above it...

P.S. Back in June of 2021 I was dispersed camping near Inyo Craters near Mammoth lakes. In the night about 10:00 p.m. I saw two medium large eyes at about the height of a lion or bear glowing at me from about 20 yards away. They weren't bright enough to be the eyes of a coyote or fox and too bright to be a black bear. I immediately got my pepper spray, a handgun, and a headlamp and went to investigate. It was gone by the time I got out there. I figured it must have been a lion. The heavy duff on the ground prevented me from finding any tracks the next day. I've puzzled about this incident over the last two years. Now, I think I might have seen a wolf from the Sequoia pack moving through the mountains to their new location, Maybe.

I'm an ex Forest Service Wilderness Ranger. For two of my four seasons, I patrolled part of Yosemite at their request. When they changed the wilderness zones in 1976, they gave me the old zone map hanging in the ranger station in Tuolumne Meadows as a souvenir. I still have it. Anyway, in the northern states wolves are killing not only livestock, but peoples' dogs tied up in the backyard at night. You can see videos of this happening on Youtube yourself it you have the stomach for it. It's terrible. Wolves in California will eventually become a threat---I believe even to people, especially young children. Coyotes already attack young children. When I was young, I was short for my size and very skinny. I remember being "sized up" by a coyote once in an orange grove as I was traveling through it to my friend's home. The fear made me climb an orange tree and stay in it for a half hour or so. Luckily, the orange trees were big back then. When I came down, the coyote was gone. That was in about 1962. Wolves will eventually be even worse.

This is the most incredible thing I’ve ever heard. I strongly support the gray wolf coming back and believe they have every right to live their life free.
