That was a big loss to the area. Merced is close to cal state in Turlock and the Bay Area. Visalia deserved it and the south valley. But, I think Visalia with Collins on the council was anti growth for a long time and that may have hurt our chances of getting a UC? The city was more interested in building a new hotel and giving every dime to the police dept to play cat & mouse with the: gangs, druggies & thieves.
