Shuklian is weak and afraid of the bigots and has been since she was on Visalia Council.

The shift in focus on proclamations she mentions here was to avoid having to deal with the kind of pushback that happened in Porterville in 2013 and still divides the City.

She designed it to exclude LGBT people from Visalia City Hall, now it's the height of audacity to claim it was was the other way around.

Plainly she is still afraid, especially of Dennis Townsend, who singlehandedly destroyed whatever goodwill and economic development would have come to Porterville after 5 years of anti-lgbt actions on Porterville's Council already by then that he was front and center in supporting every single time. And there were lots and lots of times.

It's the basis of these extended and very public and very vocal hate-capades that built the base that elevated him, with no other political experience, to BoS.

And now Shuklian, having denied Visalia the same economic benefits Townsend denied Porterville, they act in cahoots to deny basic humanity and access to government functions to LGBT people to this very day, and then she tries to spin it as a positive and she allows him to remain silent instead of making him go on the record.

It is NOT a positive, it's a major negative, and shame on Shuklian for not moving things forward for her own constituents instead of feeling that there is nothing to be gained from a less than 5-0 vote.

The only thing she is helping is her ego. No one else benefits from her helping haters continue to hate and continue to block bringing Tulare County into the 20th Century (not a typo).

I have no problem with honoring the lbgtq's choices. Thats their right. But when we begin to celebrate one group of people, everybody else feels excluded. Thats like the rainbow wave flag. When we fly a flag for just one group of people, we end up flying every other flag in lieu of pressure. Why should we let a certain group of people fly their own flag, or have their own special day? Say what if an Alabama transplant said, "Hey why dont we fly the stars and bars? Or have dixie day?" Are they going to let them? Probably not. America is a diverse country, and we should recognize that. And we already have a flag to represent every difference. We have a flag to represent everybody, regardless of color, orientation, or whatever. Its called old Glory. So yes, I wave the American flag, not just for myself, but for every American. And if every group of people needs their own holiday, well bud, let it be every day you wake up a free American; THATS something to celebrate.
