Definitely some corrections needed here. The district should not be responsible for the 80 hours. I have never heard the term COVID 80, it is the Family First Coronavirus Response Act signed by the president on March 17th I believe, required employer enactment 30 days later. If the county mandated a quarantine of all those employees then their wages are covered, well most of them. I believe you still owe state taxes. It is deducted from your next federal tax payment. So employee earns $1000 and your tax payment for all wages is $2000 you deduct the $1000. Get some advise on that for sure, don’t miss that boat and cost tax payers more money. There is no rule about not practicing state or county mandates, it is a federal law until December 31st unless it gets extended. There are some exemptions for not making all of the law available, like for healthcare workers but most other industries have no exemption.

I am so confused as to why a complete closure. I can’t find that is what is recommended for asymptomatic contact from the CDC. Was an exposure even there? Coughing, sneezing while not masked? What was the distance? How big was your building?

There are so many asymptomatic positives. Rapid closure of something like the cemetery seems like an over reaction.

The virus is real and yes some people are going to get real sick and die. Some will have residual effects. The vast majority will be fine and well over half will have no symptoms nor knowledge they have it. The fear that is being perpetuated will have a lasting impact on mental health for years to come.

Sounds like the cemetery needs some better guidelines with staff in group meetings. But people are going to do what they chose to do. The cemetery shut down and these employees were all together at the back of a truck bed. It is next to impossible to control. I think everyone of us can acknowledge that is true. I, for one, am tired of seeing people blame and shame others. So much hypocrisy!

Like everyone else I am ready for some normal.

Here is the perfect opportunity for these Cemetery Board Trustees to be replaced along with Castaneda and any other personnel who chose not to follow proper DCD protocols, it is just too bad it won't happen. It is quite obvious that Avila, Presant, and Pennington are all working hand-in-hand to get rid of Aguilar and Gilson. If they weren't so focused on their personal agendas they might have paid more attention to the CDC guidelines and made sure that they were being adhered to. But then again it wouldn't surprise me one bit that they like many others in this city think that Covid 19 is simply just a hoax that the liberals started. The taxpayers of Tulare deserve better than what this current board has been offering up. Long past time to clean house.
