March 20: Gary Woods – “Birds of Southeast Arizona”
Gary Woods of Fresno Audubon will be presenting his photography from the past 12 years from Southeast Arizona at 7:00pm St Paul’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall 120 N. Hall St, Visalia . Gary is an excellent photographer and birder. Although Southeast Arizona is barely known outside the world of birders, it is rich in biodiversity with many species found nowhere else in the US. Besides photos, he will provid many resources about where to go and how to get started, including birding festivals. The church’s parking lot from the 1400 block of West Center St. is the closest to the Parish Hall. No host dinner at Marie Callender’s (Hwy 198 and Mooney Blvd) at 5:15 where you can usually meet the speaker.

Wilma McDaniel, Tulare’s Poet Laureate, will be posthumously designated a California Literary Landmark at the Tulare Historical Museum. Wilma’s designation will mark only the sixth Literary Landmark in the state of California, the first for Tulare County, and the first female to be given this distinction. A free biscuits & gravy and cornbread & beans brunch will be available from 11am-1pm, The Literary Landmark Celebration program begins at 1:00pm
March 28: Visalia Home Garden Tour
The Sequoia Garden Club of Visalia will host its bi-annual home garden tour from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The theme for this year’s tour is “Rethinking Your Garden.” The public can tour five homes that are beautifully designed with water conservation in mind. Visitors will have access to a list of plants used in the landscapes and information about integrated pest management best practices. Tulare County Master Gardeners will be available at each site to answer questions. Plants will be for sale at a sixth venue.
