Lindsay Community Theater heads Into the Woods on Nov 1

A hesitant Cinderella? A bloodthirsty Little Red Riding Hood? Two Prince Charmings with roving eyes? A Witch who raps? A vengeful Giant? A neurotic Rapunzel? Two blind stepsisters? All of these are among the eccentric characters in James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim’s fractured musical fairy tale, Into the Woods. The Lindsay Community Theater presents Into the Woods on October 25, 27, November 1, and 3 at 7:30pm and October 28 and November 4 at 2pm. Tickets are $14.99 for Adults and $9.99 for Students. Into the Woods centers around a Baker (Joseph Newman) and his Wife (Alli Smith), who learn they have been cursed by the Witch (Alyson Cook) next door. They embark upon a quest to break the spell. In the process they swindle, lie to, and steal from Jack (Gage Phipps), Cinderella (Anna Moore) , Rapunzel (Kathrynne Wills) , and Little Red Riding Hood (Debra Newman). Cinderella and Rapunzel are pursued by two Prince Charmings (Mike Newman and Ash Morales). All of their fairy-tale stories get interwoven as they meet in the woods, and then everyone’s wish is granted by the end of Act 1, and all live “happily ever after.”

Act 2 tells what happens “after” when the consequences of their actions come back to haunt them. What begins as a fanciful romp through several overlapping fairy tales becomes a moving lesson about community responsibility and the stories we tell our children. Other cast members are Jim Newman, Jim Kliegl, Connor Craven, Ron Fleming, Fernando Esquivel, Stevie Gonzalez, Linda Jarrett, Jennifer Keeton, Haley Brummet, Tiffany Steele, Grace Loeffler, LilyAnn Keeton, Carlene Ruiz, Nancy Wills, and Natalia Pratti.
