Actually, this city has already built a palace with transit funds; now it's half used, if that, but is referred to as "City Hall east".

As a blind person and a tax payer, I have zero confidence in our city or county being willing to meet my needs. The abismal state of both our sidewalks and our transportation options are two reasons.

No more new taxes. No to spending on all these wants. All these candidates should be thinking of bringing new businesses which would create tax revenue and jobs which would also create tax revenue. Only then let's think about building this and building that. All these are wants and not needs. Dont keep on taxing the poorest and the least educated county.

Additionally, Mr. Woods, I am a tax payer and a property owner in Visalia. I will not be patronized by you or anyone else!

Trail ways do not and will not increase access to those of us who are blind and whoo for that reason, cannot access bicycles.

Thank you for demonstrating the sane cluelessness that the entire city council maintains.

If you thinjk I'm angry, you're damned right!

In reply to <a href="https://www.ourvalleyvoice.com/2018/10/22/visalia-city-council-district-3-candidates-face-off/#comment-15775">Dave M</a>.

I agree, Dave, that we need expanded transit routes. Thank you for speaking up.

Our city is continuing to move outward, and we have residents who cannot drive or cannot afford a car, who need to get to school, work, and simply out and about. My oldest daughter is Autistic, and does not currently drive. I understand the limitations involved when you don't have access to a car, or cannot drive.

I've provided input with our new Active Transportation Plan, which will connect our trailways across Visalia, and provide more, safer bicycling routes. I will meet with community leaders and involved residents from across our city, and listen to the issues -- not only with our sidewalks, but our roads, our accessibility ramps, and with our bus stops.

Frankly, all this talking about new buildings is sad, since Visalia won't make the effort to maintain reasonable sidewalks within the city. Also, transit options for those of us unable to drive are sorely lacking unless, like me, you can afford Uber or Lyft.

But then I have learned to expect nothing from other than tax bills from local government.
