Following a rigorous two-day inspection, the California Department of Public Health has approved the reopening of Tulare Regional Medical Center, Tulare Local Healthcare District and Adventist Health leaders learned Friday morning.
With the license approval, the hospital will reopen as planned at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15. The community is invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony in front of the hospital at that time.
“The work that this team has accomplished in 110 days in nothing short of miraculous,” said Kevin Northcraft, district board president. Reopening work started immediately after the district board chose Adventist Health as a partner on June 27.
Andrea Kofl, president of Adventist Health services in the Central Valley, expressed gratitude for the countless hours that Tulare and Adventist Health teams devoted to making the dream a reality. “We are so privileged to care for this community and so grateful for the warm welcome we’ve received.”
The hospital will reopen with emergency, inpatient nursing, ICU, anesthesia, medical imaging, lab and nutritional services, among others. Other services, such as obstetrics, pediatrics, a neonatal intensive care unit and a cardiac catheterization lab, will open as staffing is completed.
