Yes we do need a new hospital but it is well past time to be truthful about the initial increase of 8.86% in our property taxes. At the April 7th public forum sponsored by the Visalia Times Delta and the Cellar Door, the Hospital CEO was asked when exactly would we pay only $4 per month? His response "In 2044" - that is 28 years from now. The ballot clearly states we will pay $88.60 per $100,000 in 2020/21.

Kaweah Delta is projecting Visalia property tax valuations will grow at 5.25% annually thus spreading the tax bill among more properties over time. This seems optimistic since valuations for homeowners protected by Prop. 13 can only be raised 1% per year.

We currently pay $23 per $100,000 for a $60 million Visalia Unified bond. Measure H is 5.5 times as large. Yes we do need a new hospital but let us as least be honest about the cost.

we live in the H distriact, and are inclined to vote for the bond measure as we're getting older and want local, modern hospital stays. however, your point that the voting district only covers a fraction of the geographic patient base is germane. why not charge those living in the district paying the taxes a discounted rate for care, and charge non residents more? you'll tell me impossible in the insurance industry, but only sounds fair.

Short story - NO! Kaweah Delta over the years have overextended themselves and now they want a small portion of people to bear the brunt of helping them upgrade which they should have been doing in the first place and now want a few to help them out even if makes them make over burden with taxes so they can do what they should have done in the first place!. Kaweah got greedy and they want a few to bail them out!
